Our Chile Festival was a blast! I can still smell that wonderful aroma of chiles roasting!

This week the farmers will have tomatillos, edamamme beans, cantaloupes, sweet corn, Navajo Red Seeded watermelons, which are very sweet and flavorful this year, also Galia and Asian melons, field and mixed cherry tomatoes, filet, Italian flat, green and wax beans, summer squash, okra, Italian and baby eggplant, pickling cucumbers, bell peppers, sweet onions - red, white and candy, and shallots. Fresh cut herbs include Genovese, lemon, mammoth, purple and Sweet Thai basils, rosemary, and epazote.

Some vendors also have farm fresh eggs, potted plants and flowers, delicious homemade jams and relishes. Jewelry, pretty aprons, and handmade soaps and lotions are just some of our crafts. The Red Turtle Caf should be there with lots of freshly prepared baked goods, breakfast items and even pizza!

Concho Farmers Market also accepts Senior FMNP checks! Checks or vouchers are $3 each and can be used to buy any fresh vegetables from participating vendors. If you have received your vouchers or know someone who has, please bring them with you to shop at our market, we are the only participating farmers market in Apache and Navajo counties. For more information on the FMNP program, please see our website.

We are now selling raffle tickets for $5.00, available at the Market Managers table, a drawing will be held once a month with the winner receiving an item from each vendor, and the July winner was Miles McGinnis!

Saturday, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., on the corner of Highway 61 and 180A in Concho, be sure to come early for the best selections!

Our next festival is our Tomato & Chile Festival! Locally grown, sun-ripened tomatoes of every shape, size and variety will be the long awaited highlight of this festival! Along with tomatoes, the last of this seasons chiles will be available, so mark your calendars to join us on September 5th for the Tomato & Chile Festival.
